Apex Footwear Limited ( Apex) is the first 100% export oriented leather shoe manufacturing company set up in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1990, with its factory located in Shafipur,42 km from Dhaka city. Apex was originally set up with an installed annual capacity of only 300,000 pairs and has grown today to reach annual capacity of 5.76 million pairs in 2019. lt is a public limited company listed on the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges with major shareholding by the sponsors, financial institutional as well as individual retail shareholders.
Business
Unit 1: Apex exports directly to major footwear retailers and a few brands in Europe, Asia and North America as a ODM, FOB, first price, direct manufacturer. Apex has a strong design and product development capability with a dedicated design studio and sampling facility in Puglia, South Italy as well as in factory design and product development facility in Bangladesh.This enables Apex to to launch two global collections per year, Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter, that comprise of minimum 1000 new styles per year. ln addition Apex is also specialized in developing private collections for private label business in collaboration with major brands and retailers.
Unit2: Apex operates also its own retail and distribution business in Bangladesh with more than 750 points of sale across the country, selling mainly synthetic and some leather footwear under its own brands as well as foreign brands like Clarks and Crocs.
Product: Casual and Formal Ladies and Men's Sandals, Shoes and Boots with predominantly leather upper, leather or synthetic lining, TPR/Rubber/EVA/Resin/PU soles. Cemented, Stitch down and San Crispino constructions are available. Counters, Toe Puffs, lnsoles as well as TPR and EVA soles produced in-house.
People: Apex has 7572 persons directly employed by the company as of April 2019.
Leather: The majority of the leather used for it's footwear production is produced in its own dedicated tannery unit located on the same campus which is the only Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold rated tannery in Bangladesh. All the leather used in production is tested and certified for meeting the chemical and physical standards required by REACH and Prop65 by international testing companies such as ITS, BV and SGS. Export Markets: 80% Europe, L4%oNorth America and 6% Asia.
